International Anti-Corruption Day

Corruption is a complex social, political and economic phenomenon that affects all countries. Corruption undermines democratic institutions, slows economic development and contributes to governmental instability. Corruption attacks the foundation of democratic institutions by distorting electoral processes, perverting the rule of law and creating bureaucratic quagmires whose only reason for existing is the soliciting of bribes.

What does the Anti-Gang Legislation have to do with me?

The Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organisations) Act 2014 or the Anti Gang Legislation was signed by the Governor General in April 2014 after passing through the Senate and the House of Representative in March and February 2014 respectively. 

This legislation makes it an offence for persons to associate, recruit adults or children whether by force or not, for the purpose of participation in criminal activity.  It is also an offence to knowingly receive goods of benefits from criminal activity.

Hanover Police Appeal to Residents

The Sandy Bay Police in Hanover are appealing to residents of Round Hill, Hopewell in the parish or anyone who may have witnessed a hit and run incident in the community on Saturday, March 21 to come forward and tell them what they know.

Reports are that about 10:40 p.m., a man, whose identity has not yet been ascertained, was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a motor car; the driver did not stop. Subsequently, several other cars allegedly ran over the body.

Gang Member Arrested, Charged by C-TOC

Another of the country’s most wanted men has been captured by the Police.

He is Aston Daley, otherwise called ‘Daleybwoy’, ‘Ricky’ and ‘Ricardo’, of Shelter Rock in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
