TWO WOMEN NABBED IN DRUG BUST

Detectives in the Manchester Division arrested two women on the Spur Tree main road in the parish for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act on Wednesday, January 20.

Reports are that about 11:20 p.m., lawmen were on operation when a Nissan motor vehicle, in which the women were travelling, was stopped. The vehicle was searched and two packages containing cocaine weighing approximately 4.4 pounds with an estimated street value of JMD 3.5 million was seized.

Consequently, both women were arrested however their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

C-TOC SEIZE THREE FIREARMS AND A LARGE QUANTITY OF AMMUNITION IN KINGSTON

Detectives attached to the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation (C-TOC) Branch continue to rid the nation of illegal weapons under the ‘Get the Guns’ campaign with its latest seizure of three firearms and more than 270 rounds of ammunition on Wednesday, January 20.

About 3:00 p.m., lawmen intercepted a Toyota Axio motor car with three men aboard at the intersection of Spanish Town Road and Hagley Park Road in St. Andrew. The vehicle was searched and the following items seized.

Three Nabbed in Corporate Area Gun Bust

Detectives attached to the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) continue to rid the nation of illegal weapons under the ‘Get the Guns’ campaign with its latest seizure of three firearms and more than 270 rounds of ammunition on Wednesday, January 20.

Reward for 'Duppy Film' Now 1.5 Million

The Police High Command has increased the reward to 1.5 million JMD to anyone who can give reliable information leading to the arrest and charge of Marlon Perry otherwise called ‘Duppy Film’, of Phillipsfield, Yallahs, St. Thomas who was implicated in the brutal slaying of Corporal Kenneth Davis and Constable Craig Palmer on Tuesday, December 22.

The Policemen were killed on the Poor Man’s Corner main road in St. Thomas.

The following persons are also being asked to immediately turn themselves in to the Yallahs Police.

Inbond Rum Found at Wholesale

Detectives attached to the Intellectual Property Unit of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) seized 136 cases of inbond liquor at a wholesale on Race Course Road in Manchester on Tuesday, January 19.

Inbond is a special designation granted to select persons who are able to sell the products duty free to consumers under license. This license is not granted to wholesalers.

Two-Year Fugitive Nabbed in Westmoreland

A Police/military operation in Carwina district, Westmoreland on Tuesday, January 19 resulted in the capture of Andre Knight of Corletts Road, St. Catherine, a prisoner who escaped custody in 2013.

Twenty-seven-year-old Bryan Jones and 25-year-old Judy-Ann Bennett were also picked up during the operation and charged for perverting the course of justice.

Just Under Two Dozen Guns Seized

The Get the Guns Campaign continues to flourish with the seizure of three firearms across the island on Saturday, January 16, bringing the total number of guns seized to 23 since the start of the year.

The first weapon was seized in Penfield district, Gordon Town, St. Andrew about 2:00 p.m. Reports are that Police were on operation in the area, when they observed a motor vehicle covered by a tarpaulin. A search revealed a Smith and Wesson revolver and two .38 cartridges on top of the vehicle.

GANJA SEIZED IN ST. ELIZABETH

Detectives attached to the Narcotics Division seized a quantity of ganja on the Goshen main road in St. Elizabeth on Saturday, January 16.

Reports are that about 8:30 p.m., lawmen were on patrol along the roadway when they signalled the driver of a motor vehicle to stop. He complied and he along with the vehicle was searched. Nine knitted bags containing approximately 450 pounds of compressed ganja with an estimated street value of JMD 2.3 million were seized.

The driver was subsequently arrested; his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

 

BOG WALK GORGE CLOSED

The public is being advised that the Bog Walk Gorge will remain closed until further notice, to facilitate the removal of a gas truck transporting liquefied petroleum gas that crashed into the Rio Cobre on Sunday,January 17.

Reports from the Bog Walk Police are that about 2:00 a.m. the vehicle was travelling along the Gorge when the driver encountered difficulties and crashed into the river.
